Security seals only work if they are properly checked

Security seals are used every day and everywhere in unlimited applications and create great benefits. Even more important than choosing the right security seal is using it correctly and integrating it properly into the internal sealing process.

The effective use of tamper-evident seals is a far greater challenge than finding the right design. The user must be familiar with its characteristics and security features.

No matter how well the technical design of a security seal is, it will only work if it is properly controlled -

- at the point of application and

- at the point of opening

which in turn depends on the integrity and reliability of the  employees or the people involved.

To ensure that the seal is correctly applied, it is essential to check that the seal is properly closed. Pulling on the part of the seal that has been inserted into the locking mechanism is an absolute MUST.  This is the only way to detect tampering. If, for whatever reason, e.g. lack of time, lack of knowledge of the user  etc., no inspection is taking place, sealing is completely useless. Time and costs can be saved if the control is not considered important.

Once everything has been checked and registered, the sealed goods can be sent on their safe journey.

On arrival, the seal must be checked for any signs of tampering.  Again, it is advisable to pull on the part of the seal that is in the locking part before removing the seal. Just to make sure that no manipulation has taken place between the point of departure and arrival.

In summary, security procedures are only as good as the people who implement them. Efforts must be made to train designated staff in the proper handling, sealing, checking, opening and disposal of seals.

Our well-trained staff will be happy to advise you on safety procedures.
